　　五月的中原大地，春风和煦，田野碧绿，一片生机勃勃的景象。4月30日至5月1日，胡锦涛和随行的中共中央政治局候补委员、中央书记处书记、中央办公厅主任王刚，在河南省委书记徐光春、省长李成玉等陪同下，到南阳、郑州等地，深入企业车间、田间地头、城市社区，亲切看望和慰问干部群众。

　　4月30日上午一到南阳，胡锦涛就来到全国劳动模范翟光校家中看望。51岁的翟光校是天冠企业集团的高级工程师，在燃料乙醇等项目的技术攻关中取得多项创新成果。胡锦涛握着他的手动情地说:“你是全国劳动模范，今天我特地来看望你，感谢你为企业发展、为国家现代化建设作出的突出贡献。”
