Counting the transmission efficiency of five major gearboxes

1. Manual gearbox is hard-connected, generally there will be no extra loss, and the transmission efficiency is greater than 96%.

2. The transmission efficiency of the dry dual-clutch gearbox is about 90% to 95%, which is similar to the manual gearbox and will not have too much loss. 3. The transmission efficiency of wet dual clutch gearbox is about 86% to 92%. The main reason why its transmission efficiency is lower than that of dry dual clutch is to avoid long-term heating, thus sacrificing part of transmission efficiency and improving service life.

4. The transmission efficiency of 4.AT gearbox is basically in the range of 82% to 90%. As for the low transmission efficiency, it is mainly manifested in the case of low torque. Take ZF 8AT as an example. At the beginning, its transmission efficiency is lower than 80%, but at high speed, its transmission efficiency will reach more than 95%. This is mainly because at low speed, the hydraulic pitch adjusters are all semi-linked, resulting in relatively large power loss.

5. The transmission efficiency of CVT gearbox is about 80% to 88%. Like the new generation of Aisin CVT gearbox, its transmission efficiency is higher than 88%, which is basically close to the level of AT gearbox. The transmission efficiency of CVT gearbox is low, mainly because the steel belt is only responsible for providing tension, and the real transmission is realized by pushing the plate, which is transmitted by contacting the pulley, and the pulley clamps the pushing plate and then compresses it. The loss caused by such friction leads to the reduction of transmission efficiency.
