Status quo of Foxconn in Zhengzhou: double salary, leaving "old people" to recruit new people
After a large number of employees walked home, Zhengzhou Foxconn, the world’s largest iPhone production base, received attention from all walks of life. Since October 30, the government has sent a working group, and the company has issued several statements to solve the management problems in the park.
Recently, Interface News learned from a number of Foxconn employees that the chaos in the Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou Port Area (airport area) has been alleviated. The next problem facing the factory is how to make up for the production capacity after a large number of employees return home.
In order to keep more employees to ensure production, Foxconn began a new round of subsidy overweight on November 1. Since mid-October, the subsidy has been continuously increased from 50 yuan to 100 and 200 yuan every day, and now it has reached a high level in 400 yuan every day. In addition, the company also subsidizes two hours of working hours every day (for example, 8 hours of work is calculated as 10 hours).
Such a high salary subsidy is mainly due to the serious reduction of production line staff in the park due to epidemic prevention and control.
Xiaoqin was a member who left Foxconn on October 31. She told Interface News that there were thousands of people in her original assembly line. After the outbreak, with more and more people leaving, the two assembly lines were merged into one, leaving only more than 100 people still working. Another employee who is still on the job said that there were about 1,600 people in his workshop, and there are still four or five hundred people left.
In addition to encouraging employees to stay with high salaries, Foxconn is also trying to recruit new employees.
According to an internal recruitment information, Foxconn offered a high price of up to 65 yuan per hour to recruit hourly workers, which was twice as high as that in 30 yuan during the peak season. The "rebate" model, that is, you can get the basic salary and rebate bonus after working for 3 months and reaching the attendance standard. The highest salary comes to 18,600 yuan, which is 8,000 yuan higher than the peak season. The threshold of recruitment includes the negative proof of nucleic acid within 24 hours and the completion of two shots of vaccination. Some employees said that "it was originally necessary to inject three shots of vaccine, and the standard has now been lowered."
In addition to manufacturing jobs, Foxconn also lacks grassroots security personnel in the park, such as cleaners. In recent days, there are many videos of garbage piled up inside and outside Foxconn dormitory on the short video platform. A number of employees confirmed to the interface news that due to the closed-loop management in the park, employees ate in the dormitory, isolated people could not go out, and cleaning staff did not want to go to work, the phenomenon of garbage accumulation in the dormitory and square did exist.
A recruitment agency once openly recruited floating workers from Hong Kong in a circle of friends to work as volunteers as cleaners. The wage was 300 yuan every day, and if they were isolated due to work, there was a daily subsidy from 150 yuan. This position seems to be very popular, and the intermediary sent a message two hours later, saying that "volunteers are full in seconds".
According to the official news of WeChat official account released by Zhengzhou Airport on October 31st, the government has sent 200 additional nucleic acid detection personnel and 400 disinfection and removal forces to Foxconn. It is still difficult to evaluate whether these newly-added manpower has brought improvement to the factory management.
Some employees said, "The early scenes are very chaotic, and employees’ emotions are easy to rise and conflicts will occur." Many volunteers have not received training, and most of them are workers in the workshop who have been pulled over to do it. They are difficult to grasp when dealing with contradictions and problems. " After the increase in manpower, there were more volunteers in the closed-loop roads to and from work, dormitory areas and canteens, but after two days of opening the canteen in the factory, they returned to the mode of packing boxes and returning to the dormitory to eat. At present, workers who go to work normally can get free lunch, dinner, traditional Chinese medicine and antigen self-test reagent once a day.
Interface news learned that there are still a group of "self-isolated" workers left behind, most of whom entered the factory in the past two months. Because they haven’t reached the required attendance time, they choose to take time off first and isolate themselves in the dormitory or their rented house, hoping to return to work in the factory after the epidemic situation improves. Because they don’t go to work, they can’t get the above drugs and antigen reagents, and the food needs to be solved by themselves. "Recently, the price here has risen, from 11 pieces of increase in the price of cigarettes to 30 pieces, and the egg 10 yuan is a catty. The price of daily necessities depends on the boss’s mood."
An employee in autonomous isolation said, "At that time, I already ran out of the dormitory with my bag on my back and wanted to go home, but when the wind blew, my mind was clear and I thought about how I should go so late. Staying in the factory is at least a point-to-point sealed control management. If we go home, we are all in close contact and infect our relatives and friends. I have seen many people say that the first batch of people who went home did not regret it, but they were very upset. I have a deep understanding. "
Foxconn employees who have returned home are most concerned about whether the wages can be paid as scheduled, whether the attendance standards can be met, and whether the rebate can be obtained. According to Foxconn’s "Policy Statement on Payment of Entry Bonus and Hourly Difference for Returned Employees" released on November 2, the wages and rebate of these employees will be settled according to the number of days they have worked. This solves the most worrying problem of most returning employees.
The employees who are still working in the factory are most concerned about, "nothing more than how much money they can earn and protect their own lives." A subsidy of 400 yuan a day is a particularly high salary in Zhengzhou. I believe that if it can be managed well, employees will definitely be willing to go to work. " An employee said.
